We are big fans of orange creamsicles in my house, so I thought it would be fun to make our own as a push pop! These tangy, creamy treats are easy to make and perfect for those hot summer days! For this project you'll need: 8 oz. cool whip, thawed in the refrigerator 8 oz. coconut milk 1 packet orange gelatin You can tweak the amounts to suit your taste. The orange flavor is strong and sweet, so add less of the gelatin packet if you desire. I had attempted this … [Read more...]

In Memory of Jessica Ghawi
I did not know Jessica Ghawi personally, but having read her family's stories about her, I know I would have liked her. Her memorial service is Saturday, at a church not far from my home. I can't take her family's hurt away. I can't undo what's been done. But I can honor one of their requests: to share her story and shine a light on the way she lived, not how she died.As I peeked at Jessica's Twitter account, her humor made me laugh. Her pictures offered glimpses into her life, and I loved … [Read more...]
Vintage Themed Birthday Party Free Printable
It's a celebration!! I am thrilled to be invited to help Jill at Two Yellow Birds Decor celebrate her 1 year bloggiversary! Please check out my guest post here to say hello and check out the free printables I am offering. I (very!) recently had a birthday party for my youngest children, who turned 1 and 3. Ric Rac, Mod Podge, give your flops a new look!
These shoes started out as plain ol' $1 flip flops from Walmart. With a little magic (ok, maybe just some craft supplies and a touch of ingenuity) I turned them into my new favorite footwear. (Check out my other flip flip transformation tutorials HERE.) I actually had other plans for these flip flops, but when I couldn't find the materials I wanted in my stash I started looking for alternatives. I love the end result, and I can't believe how comfortable these flip flops are!! Supplies … [Read more...]

Tangram Inspired Wood Block Pattern Puzzle
Fun pattern combinations are almost limitless with this easy to make, tangram inspired wood block puzzle. No painting required - just use washi tape! My second son loves puzzles, and I had promised to make him a Tangram to play with. After seeing this idea, however, I decided it would be more fun to make a pattern puzzle with blocks! I started with 6 one inch wood cubes that I already had. I painted them white with DecoArt crafters paint. Next, I covered each side using my washi … [Read more...]
Make your own Slime!
Looking for a way to keep the kids (our yourself!) entertained this summer? Make slime with two household ingredients! This is a favorite activity in our home! I have even had kids make this as a birthday party/take home activity. All you need is: Glue (I recommend Elmer's School Glue. I ended up with a gummy mess when we used a generic glue.) Liquid starch Washable paint (optional. I don't like using food coloring because it stains.) You will need equal parts glue and … [Read more...]
