Don't laugh, but this post is going to be hard for me. I don't really like talking about myself, and I tend to stick to just tutorials on my blog. But two lovely fellow bloggers have nominated me for two awards, so I'm going to play along. I'll try not to bore you. And, because I'm a teacher, there will be a quiz at the end of the post. So take notes. Kristin at A Vintage Fairy gave me this first award. I am so pleased she thought of me because I really admire her work. I love her … [Read more...]

How to Make Your Own US Map Wall Art
Add a punch of color to your wall with this DIYmap wall art project! My oldest son's room has a retro car theme, and I have seen several license plate maps that I wanted but didn't like the price tag. So I decided to make my own wall art. I started by using my Silhouette to cut out three maps: two on cardstock and one on scrapbook paper. Then, I taped the cardstock map to a piece of foam (I repurposed an old foam play tile) and used my razor blade to cut the mat to fit the outline. I … [Read more...]

I found a dry … [Read more...]
Make an Easter Basket for Boys
I showed you how to make a basket for a princess here, but what about the boys? I have three sons myself, so I know firsthand how hard it is to find crafting projects for boys. This metal basket got the seal of approval from my guys. I hope yours will like it, too! The metal bucket is available at Lowes, for just $3.50. I cut the chevron design on vinyl and adhered it. I had to fold it in places to make it work. I dabbed on paint with a sponge brush to give it a grungy … [Read more...]

Candlestick Topiary
This beautiful home decor item was very easy and fun to make! Make your own paper flowers to create a gorgeous floral topiary. First I painted a 3 inch candlestick with crackle paint to give it an aged look. Then I cut out my flowers using a shape from silhouette. Making the flowers was the most time consuming part of the process! You could also use premade flowers to speed things up. I misted the paper lightly with water so I could use the toothpick to curl the petals. This … [Read more...]
