I've been on a flamingo "kick" lately. There's something about them that just makes me smile, which is why I've been incorporating them in my crafting lately. When I was offered the chance to partner with My Favorite Things and choose any product on their site, I could not pass up this adorable flamingo die cut set! I paired them with Oly-Fun non-fraying fabric and a Xyron sticker maker to quickly and easily make this adorable flamingo mobile! Supplies: (may include affiliate … [Read more...]
DIY Tuffet Side Table or Bar Stool
I was excited to be given the opportunity to create in a "tuffet challenge" with the master makers on the Fairfield World design team! We were each given an uber plush foam cushion and our choice of some fabulous Robert Kaufman fabric and encouraged to be creative! I paired my cushion with a thrifted bench from Goodwill San Antonio to create a mod fabric side table! As an added bonus, it can also be used as a bar stool. The first thing I did was spray paint the legs of this well used stool … [Read more...]
Make Anthropologie Inspired Globe Art
In my opinion, Anthropologie has the coolest stuff but not the most affordable prices. I think part of what I love about their items is that they look hand crafted and unique, not factory made. It's this characteristic that makes it so tempting to try to knock off Anthro items. I loved the look and the idea behind this globe at Anthro, so I made my own version. … [Read more...]
Make a Retro Clock Purse
Earth Day is coming up soon, so I'll be sharing some ideas for ways to turn "trash" into something useful. I just love to craft with thrifted and recycled items, so "earth day" happens almost everyday for me. In the past I've turned kitchen whisks into garden art and made my own watering pails for pennies. With this project, I'm turning a broken clock into a fun retro inspired accessory! I've had this idea for a for a long time, and I'm so excited to finally make what I've been … [Read more...]
Simple Wire Wrapped Bead Ring Tutorial
This project is addicting! Once you get the hang of it you won't want to stop making these gorgeous wire wrapped bead rings. They're so quick to make that I ended up making almost a dozen in just an hour. This project would make a pretty last minute gift, and it's also a great group project for tweens and teens to make. I used $1 bead bags and wire that I found in the craft section of Walmart, which makes this project really affordable for large groups. Supplies: Beads … [Read more...]
Photo to Wood Transfer: Video Tutorial
I've always been intrigued by wood transfer projects. I've experimented with several different applications: cutting scrapbook paper, using vintage images from books, and transfers to fabric, but my favorite is transferring personal pictures. I love the rustic, vintage look it creates. My Photo to Wood Transfer tutorial has been so popular that I decided to make a video tutorial to show exactly how the process is done. This short video will teach you all the little things I've learned … [Read more...]
Make a Lamp with Vellum Flowers
I love to use my die cuts to create home decor. While most people use their dies for paper crafting, I rarely use my dies on paper. I'm usually cutting fabric, chipboard, metal sheets, and anything else I can fit in my Sizzix! I've even used clay in my Big Shot! For this project I combined gorgeous Thinlit's flower dies with vellum to create a gorgeous, glowing centerpiece. You have to make this to see for yourself how pretty it is! Supplies used to make light up vellum flowers: … [Read more...]
Miniature Spool Vignettes: Make Your Own
I'm just crazy about all things miniature! I've made miniature gnome doors and mini pin cushions before, to name a few projects. Now I'm making miniature spool vignettes to decorate with. I used a cool new product with my Xyron tools to make these mini animal vignettes. (Keep reading till the end for a giveaway!) The Diamond Press is a fun new tool that's a miniature die cutting and embossing machine. It works just like a full size die cutting machine, but small sized! This is a "must … [Read more...]
Alien Abduction Warning Sign
It's March 20th: do you know what obscure "holiday" today is? Alien Abduction Day! I'm not sure exactly what or how we're supposed to celebrate this day. Are we encouraging or preventing alien abductions on this holiday? I decided I would use this little known holiday to post warning signs. I made these "alien abduction warning" signs as a joke, but they have my four year old extremely worried. He's now convinced that aliens are taking cows! I think I've convinced him that these signs are all in … [Read more...]
