Make a Disney Super Buddies Shirt – with Free Printable
We are huge Disney Buddies fans. HUGE. We own or have rented every one of their movies. It's the only movie that all four of my kids will agree to watch together without bickering. So when I told them that we were going to preview the new Disney action packed Super Buddies movie, they were thrilled. They were ready for a new epic tail! My kids eagerly awaited the mail every day. The morning the package arrived, we were on our way out the door. Fortunately, the movie comes in a combo … [Read more...]
How to Make Cracked Glass Stones for Crafting
This project is a family favorite. My kids *love* to "crack" glass stones with me. They don't even make anything with them most of the time, they just enjoy watching the glass crack and then admiring their handiwork. I like to paint the stones, glitter them, set them in bezels, make magnets, and all kinds of other things. But let me back up a bit and first show you how to "crack" glass! (This post first appeared at Dollar Store Crafts, where you can find me every Tuesday!) Supplies … [Read more...]
Don’t Trash It! How to Repurpose a Door into a Table
I've mentioned in another post that I am creating a Mad Hatter inspired garden area in my back yard. Part of it will include an area where my kids and I can read, tell stories, and have snacks at a whimsical table. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, I found the pieces I needed for my table! I was thrilled to be invited to participate in Habitat for Humanity's #DontTrashIt campaign. Those of you who are familiar with my blog know that I love to craft with inexpensive, thrifted, and … [Read more...]
Flip Flop Makeover with Fabric and Mod Podge
I love to take something plain and give it some "wow"! Flip flops are fun to work with because there are so many different ways you can make them unique to you. My favorite way to update flip flops is with fabric and Mod Podge. Yes, you read that right! As long as you don't wear your flip flops to the pool, the fabric will stay put and look great all summer. This project was first published at Dollar Store Crafts, where you can find me every Tuesday! Materials Needed: Flip … [Read more...]
Make a Meme with Picmonkey, Part 2
In this post I showed you how to make a basic meme. Sometimes, though, the background hides the letters. Here's one way to fix that. PicMonkey has lots of shapes and overlays you can use. You could put a box at the bottom of your image, add a speech bubble, a tag, or anything else you like. For this meme, I was inspired by Anne Taintor's work and used simple white rectangles to enhance my text. Step one: Open an image in Picmonkey (details here). Step two: Select "Overlay". Lots of … [Read more...]

Tea Pot Bird Bath Garden Art Made from Thrifted Items
Make a tea pot bird bath by using thrifted items from Goodwill. This whimsical piece of garden art is surprisingly easy to make. I'm creating a Mad Hatter inspired garden at my home, so of course I'll need lots of tea cups, tea pots, and saucers to decorate with. Thanks to Goodwill San Antonio, it's easy and inexpensive to find the items I need to craft with. I fell in love with this lamp at Anthropologie, and I knew the design idea would be perfect for the "Alice in Wonderland" … [Read more...]
Make Your Own Light Up Marquee Letters
I've mentioned before that I love all things retro and vintage, so I'm crazy about marquee letters! I've seen tutorials for making your own that involve strings of lights, but I didn't want to have to deal with cords and outlets, so I came up with this idea. My marquee letters are portable and can be used standing as part of a display or hanging on a wall. They would make fun party or wall decor. Ready to make your own? Here's how! This post first appeared at Crafts Unleashed, where I … [Read more...]
DIY T-shirt Printing with Kids
I don't know about you, but here it's getting a bit too hot to go outside. If you're stuck indoors with kids, here are some fun ideas for T-shirt printing with kids. I always liked using recycled meat trays to make stamping "plates". I wanted to see if the technique could work for T-shirts. Some tweaking is needed, but overall it was a success. Most importantly, the kids had fun and are proud of their work! Christian's shirt: Dominic's shirt: Stay cool and crafty, my friends! … [Read more...]
