Call me old fashioned, but I still love books and magazines. Yes, I work online, but when I relax I love to unwind with a book. I have a small collection of favorite craft books and magazines that I mark and go back to often when I need inspiration. I’m happy to share the newest addition to my library: DIY T-Shirt Crafts: From Braided Bracelets to Floor Pillows, 50 Unexpected Ways to Recycle Your Old T-Shirts. This book is being released this weekend and is written by one of my blogging buddies, Adrianne from Happy Hour Projects.
Adrianne is one of the first craft bloggers I “met” in the interwebs, and our paths keep crossing. We are both on the Crafts Unleashed and Blitsy designer teams, and I couldn’t be happier for her success. She is fabulously creative and I love her crafting style. I especially like her jewelry tutorials. I mean, how fabulous is that chained scarf (above) or this braided bracelet (below)? And I love the fact that they are all made from t-shirts!
I truly enjoy this book. As someone who loves to craft with recycled items, I love that I can turn old t-shirts into something I can use. With 50 projects in the book, there’s something for everyone. My daughter and I decided to start with this beautiful ruffled scarf tutorial:
It looks complicated, right? Nope, it’s amazingly simple to make (took us less than 15 minutes!) and the end result is stunning. The tutorial is very easy to follow, with detailed instructions and lots of step by step pictures. We used a t-shirt that we had tie dyed to make our scarf. You can see how happy my daughter is with it:
The book includes fun ideas for accessories, jewelry, gifts, and home decor items, like this this trendy plant hanger:
Adrianne is generously giving away five copies of her book. Simply check out the form below to enter to win a copy of your own, but if you don’t, I highly encourage you to just buy a copy. It’s a must have for any thrifty crafter!
